Letter From the President

What do a Mountain Bluebird, chipmunk and marmot have in common?
They all suggest that winter is over and spring/summer is about to bring another fun filled season in Duck Creek.

The snow levels were exceptional this year, the Forestry Department reported snow levels of 109 inches on March 14, 2010; but now it’s time to put away our snow gear and get ready for hiking, fishing and 4 wheeling.

2009 ushered in a new Board for the Meadow View Heights Owners Association and we’ve rolled up our sleeves and have been busy at work. I would personally like to thank our previous Board members for their participation and service.  The Board is a group of homeowners that volunteer their time to protect your investment.  We are currently looking to fill one present vacancy with an additional two members whose term will expire.  Won’t you step up to the challenge?

So What Have We Done and What Are We Continuing To Work On:

Street Signs – Kane County indicated they will be ordering signs for Meadow View Heights subdivision shortly and installing them when their schedule permits, hopefully early summer.  The new signs reflect the new street names that were changed for 911 grid map.  If you aren’t already using your new street name, please do so.

Bulletin Board - Have you noticed the Bulletin Board at the corner of Spring Drive?  The bulletin board contains a map of the area, important phone numbers and a section on what’s happening in Meadow View Heights.  Watch it change with the Seasons.

Dust Control - The Board met with Desert Mountain Corporation to discuss a new product that is being used to control dust.  Our Neighbors in Swain’s Creek had the product applied last year and this year a maintenance coat will be applied.  Their Board speaks very highly of the product and has been very satisfied.  Check it out for yourself the next time you’re out that way.

Going Green – Communication is a vital link to providing you with information on activities that are happening in your area.  Our Board would like to commit to publishing two newsletters a year a Spring and Fall Edition.  The Spring Edition will be published (and on line) and the Fall edition will be on line only.  With Duck Creek having so many activities to offer per season it’s a way to keep you current on regular and emergency communications.
To keep our costs down we would like to make sure we have everyone’s email address.  For those individuals who don’t have email we will continue to mail your Spring newsletter.

Website – Our website info@meadowviewheights.com is undergoing a face lift we’ve added new sections.

  • Important Phone numbers.
  • If you use your property as a rental.
  • Noise related Nuisances

Up Coming Summer Activities

  • Annual Duck Creek Chili Cook Off is July 16 & 17 (Fri & Sat)
  • Association Lot Clean Up planned for September 25

Our Annual Meeting and BBQ will be held on Saturday, June 26th at 10 am at the Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District (Fire Station) on Mammoth Road.

Mark this date on your calendar – it’s an opportunity for you to hear what your Association is doing for you.  It’s also a chance for you to meet more of your neighbors, enjoy the outdoors and eat great food.

As we all enjoy the amenities that our Mountain has to offer, let’s remember to be a good neighbor:

  • Speeding causes excessive dust and tears up the roads. Holiday weekends bring large amounts of traffic to our roads – be on the alert for others.
  • Wear Your Helmet:  For riders and passengers under age 18, it's Utah law, but we advise everyone to wear a helmet. It can save your life.
  • Youth, 8-15 years of age, must take the Utah Know Before You Go! certification course before operating an OHV on public land . It is illegal for any child under the age of eight to operate an off-highway vehicle (OHV) on any public land.
  • All operators sixteen (16) years and older must possess a valid driver’s license or OHV education certificate.
  • Use the designated and marked trails when ATV’ing; make use of those areas instead of our neighbors property.
  • Know where your animals are – protect your pet from hazards. Remember it is Legal in the state of Utah to shoot any domestic animal that is seen chasing a deer. There is a leash law in Kane County, which states that your pet must be under your control at all time
  • All camp fires must be within an approved fire pit

So as we begin to enjoy all the activities that summer has in store for us; be considerate of your neighbors.

Be safe and enjoy your summer……………
