Burglaries

From Chief Deputy Tracy Glover - Kane County Sheriff's Office

Kane County Sheriff's office investigated approximately 15-17 burglaries in the area of Swains Creek to Navajo Lake over the past couple months.

We are still actively working on the burglaries from last winter. We have a couple of leads we are pursuing with the help of LVMPD and hope to make an arrest in the next month or two. I know it might seem that these cases are dragging out but it takes a long time to pursue pawn and cell phone records and follow up in Las Vegand

Please tell everyone you know that these cases would be much easier for us to work if everyone would write down a list of all serial numbers. We commonly find what looks like a good suspect pawning or selling tools, guns or electronics, but merely a description is not enough proof to go on. If we only had a serial number of electronics and guns. Without serial numbers, these items are nearly impossible to track. If people see anything suspicious, please get a vehicle description and license number. Even a partial number with a vehicle description can be a great help. If they can also get a general description of the people everything helps.

Ballot Results

In November, you were asked to vote on a ballot initiative that would increase
the dues that in turn would allow your Board to apply DuraBlend (or a similar
product) to the roads for dust control. The Board wishes to thank everyone for
their participation in this initiative.

The ballots were counted during the first Board Meeting of 2011, which was held
January 29 at the Fire Station.  The dues increase did not pass.
Here are the results:
Total number of Members eligible to vote was 399.  In order to pass, there had
to be at least 200 "yes" votes (50% of 399).

270 ballots were returned (about a 68% return).  Of those returned, the results
were:
 Yes votes = 189
 No votes = 80
1 ballot was returned with no election.

So, although 70% of the ballots returned were in favor of the dues increase,
because the "yes" votes were 11 short of the required 200 votes, the ballot did
not pass.  Therefore, the 2011/2012 dues will not increase to $100.
In addition, because the Association will not have enough funds on an on-going
basis to apply DuraBlend (or any other product) to the roads, this project has
been removed from the Association's "project list".
The Board will be moving on to other items of importance to you.
Included with the 2011/2012 dues invoice will be a survey inquiring what items
you would like your Board to pursue in 2011/2012.  Please complete and return
the survey with your dues payment.  The results will be revealed at the Annual
Meeting and BBQ on June 25, 2011 so mark your calendars.

Winter isn’t over yet, so before you leave for the Mountain don’t forget to
check road conditions on Utah’s Commuter Link
(http://www.utahcommuterlink.com).  There are cameras posted on State Route 14
at Mile Marker’s 17 & 20 in addition to several locations along State Route 143.
